My Essay on this topic:

Young girls (mainly in undeveloped countries) still face gender inequality and mistreatment on a daily basis and struggle to lead a successful and wonderful life. The main reason why this issue has emerged is that gender inequality, which has been proven to increase poverty, lessen job security, and lower women's salary. Although many believe women are incapable of being equal to men, gender equality is possible and crucial to our society as a whole.

Facing the truth, young girls are always more likely to stay home and not receive a proper education than boys are, especially in undeveloped countries. As pointed out, a "Lack of an education severely restricts a woman's access to information and opportunities... Higher levels of women's education are strongly associated with lower infant mortality and lower fertility, as well as better outcomes for their children," ("Gender equality"). When young girls do not receive the proper education, they are much more likely to marry and have children young, (arranged marriages in most cases) which then leaves most women unemployed or working low-income jobs, due to their little education. Men, who often support families alone, do not receive enough money to send their children to school, making the cycle of poverty repeat itself. "Conversely, increasing women's and girls' educational attainment benefits both individuals and future generations," ("Gender equality"). Education is the spark that could bring light to the lives of many young women who dream of a better and free life. Improving education will ultimately break girls out of the cycle of poverty and create better lives, which makes it one of the many reasons gender equality is crucial for girls around the world.

Economy is a factor that greatly contributes to our society as a whole, and is one of the important concerns that regard gender equality. "Economic disparities persist partly because much of the unpaid work within families and communities falls on the shoulders of women, and because women continue to face discrimination in the economic sphere." ("Gender equality") Economically, women are set back a great deal, because they are paid less in areas such as salaries, hiring, and other factors. "Women in sub-Saharan Africa, on average, earn 35% less than men for equal work. Women are also much less likely (26% less) to be employed than men, and for those who do find work, 75% of it is in the informal economy..." ("Empowered Women Change the World") Women are significantly less likely to be employed than men, and also earn less for equal work. "Women living on less than $2 per day are 28% less likely to have a formal bank account than men living in extreme poverty," ("Empowered Women Change the World"). Economically speaking, without a formal bank account, money shortages are more likely to happen and also give women a general disadvantage. Without much money, life is harder to manage, especially when young girls start their own families after marrying. As mentioned, women are often paid less than their male coworkers, even in developed countries such as the United States. For example, Catt Sadler (a reporter for 'E Entertainment') had to struggle through not being paid the same as her co-worker, during that her salary did not even "...come close? How can I accept an offer that shows they do not value my contributions and paralleled dedication all these years? How can I not echo the actions of my heroes and stand for what is right no matter what the cost? How can I remain silent when my rights under the law have been violated?," ("Why I Left E Entertainment"). After E Entertainment refused to negotiate and raise Sadler's salary, she quit the job and continued to raise awareness towards issues like these. "Countless brave women have come forward this year to speak their truth. Females refuse to remain silent on issues that matter most because without our voices, how will we invoke lasting change? How can we make it better for the next generation of girls if we do not stand for what is fair and just today?," ("Why I Left E Entertainment"). It is beyond disgusting that women are still not paid equal to men, even when working the same job or in partnership, keeping women at the shorter end of the stick, and having them fighting for rights that should be given. Women's rights are violated daily, even if they do not realize it, men are often paid much more for the same job, which is unacceptable considering the work is equal.

Gender roles are not biologically determined but are rather decided on people's opinions and our society as a whole. Many still contradict this opinion, such as, "Men should be the ones working and making the money, women should be at home, taking care of the kids, and working in the kitchen. However, the way that this world has setup our society, it's impossible now for males to make enough money to even survive in this day and age. Women, in my mind, should only work if they need to." ("Should men and women be equal") On the other hand, "The roles that men and women play in society are not biologically determined. They are socially determined, changing and changeable." ("Gender Equality") Unlike many what many people think, society determines the differences between men and women, and when or if people adjust to the new opinions, equality could be accepted. In addition, "When women are empowered, whole families benefit, and these benefits often have a ripple effect on future generations." ("Gender Equality") Unlike what most people think, women are strong and powerful, and if one woman is given the help she needs now, her family and future generations will benefit forever, making the problem of inequality easier to solve than most may think. On the other hand, opinions countering the general still exist. "I believe women do not have what it takes to run a nation, nor have the right to overtake the power inside of a man. It's a mans job to run the country and it's a mans job to actually stand up for what's right," ("Should men and women be equal?"). The roles described are old standards of society, which are now outdated and less common, and still should not have been acceptable during those times. Women can also go and find jobs, they can work the equivalent and more of men, and are just as strong and intelligent. Due to old roles, men and women carried decades ago, many people see men as superior, which is unacceptable since clearly, sex does not define intelligence nor strength. Women should not be underestimated for their power in politics or any other subject. Sex does not determine the roles each gender plays, but society does. On a daily basis, girls struggle to reach a brighter future, to see the sunshine behind the mountains, to give their children and generations to come a better future.

Overall, gender equality is crucial due to society and will strongly support generations to come. If opinions, values, and morals change, differences can be made, people will help others, and there might be a brighter outlook for future generations. Though the future may seem hazy, women's rights will better in the years to come. If more money is donated to organizations which help girls in developing countries have a better future, the whole world will improve a great deal. So, what could be future bring this world?
